21 THINGS GUYS SHOULD BE DOING TO LIVE A BETTER LIFE
Let’s get straight into it…
These 21 things will help you live a better life. I have tried all of them and adopted them into my daily routine… They work!!!
Wake up Early
If you have kids then you probably are already doing this... If not, consider getting up half an hour earlier. It’s amazing how much you can get done when there is no one else around. Whether it’s getting out for an early morning walk and getting those steps in early, preparing food for lunch so you don’t grab a boring sandwich from the shop, or not just having time to get those jobs done you need to do before work.
Taking the stairs instead of the lift
If you are trying to get fitter and shift some stubborn belly fat, moving more during the day helps increase your N.E.A.T Non-exercise activity thermogenesis. What’s that? It’s basically the energy you use outside of doing exercise. Every bit counts so whenever you can take the stairs or get off a stop early and walk in to work do it. You’ll see the difference in the mirror over time.
Sticking to a timetable
If you find yourself starting 10 jobs and finishing none then scheduling can be really helpful. Planning your day and executing each task not only gives you a feeling of satisfaction but makes you much more productive.
Reading a book or listening to an Audible for at least 20 mins a day
Obviously, wear what you want when you are reading…
Knowledge is power and reading a book can help you grow and develop as a person, give you new skills and widen your thought processes and horizons. We’re not so sure it can teach you to swing from tall buildings.
Reading at the end of the day can also help you unwind and aid restful sleep as long as you don’t get hooked and end up still reading at 2 am. One of our mottos at Lean6 never stops learning. We read a lot.
Eating Healthily
You knew this one was coming, especially for those of you trying to ditch unwanted weight. If you are working with us at Lean6 we’ve got you covered. If not, start by making small manageable changes to your diet. We can show you how…
Asking questions more often
If you are thinking what, where, why the chances all your colleagues and friends are too. Don’t live in confusion - ask.
Not checking your phone every few minutes
Unless it is to check our social feeds of course. Seriously though try it, have a morning without looking at your phone, and see how productive you become.
Saying sorry and thank you more often
Whether it’s to your partner, a work colleague, or the person serving you your morning coffee. Just watch the change in someone’s face when you say thank you.
Public speaking
Standing up and facing a group of colleagues or people you don’t know, in person or over zoom, might fill you with dread but it’s a great way to gain confidence and share your opinions.
Not smoking
It seriously injures your health.
Reaching your workplace on time
If you are constantly late for work, look at what’s making you late every day. Is it planning, getting up late because you are tired or is life getting in the way. Whatever it is, once you address it and start respecting your work it will respect you in return.
Saving a fixed amount each month
When the unexpected comes a long and you’ve saved for a rainy day all will be good.
Learn to cook
If you are on a fitness journey, one of the best ways to help yourself on that mission is to know what you are eating and what goes into it. Learning to cook is a great way to learn.
We provide free easy recipes for you to try. It’s a great place to get started.
Exercising
I wanted to put this at the top of the list but thought it would be a bit obvious. The best way to stop those aching joints, massively boost your energy levels and stave off that middle age spread is to exercise.
Keeping fitter for longer will help you in your work, your travel and make sure you able to do all those great things with your kids and eventually grandkids. Putting in the work now ensures you live a stronger, happier healthier life today and tomorrow.
Staying on your own
Everyone should do it at some point. It is probably the best life lesson you will ever learn. You’ll hate it at first but once you master it you’ll be unstoppable. Being solely responsible for all aspects of your life puts you in control. It also gives you a greater appreciation for what others do for you.
Learning to praise yourself
If you have done a good job then telling yourself that is good. It reaffirms your actions and it’s a great way of boosting your confidence. It reminds you of all the great things you do really well.
Taking a cold bath or shower
One step too far? Give it a go you might be surprised. This is me at the start of my cold shower ‘journey’ If the alarm clock doesn’t work this certainly will. Wim Hof’s book The Wim Hof Method: Activate Your Potential, Transcend Your Limits is a great place to start if you want to give it a go.
Sleeping on time
Sleep deprivation has a major impact on all aspects of your life including your productivity levels. Getting enough 90min cycles of sleep every night means you will wake up fresh and ready to attack the day.
Having a regular sleep routine can really help you get off to sleep quickly. If you have trouble sleeping we’d recommend you read this blog that shows you 25 ways you can drift off to sleep fast
